Alma, MI Train Hits Wagon During Storm, May 1915

TRAIN KILLS WOMAN DURING RAIN STORM

WITH CURTAINS ON RIG UP AGED COUPLE FAIL TO SEE ENGINE.

Alma, May 21. -- Mrs. Ella G. Fanner, aged sixty-five years, is dead at Brainerd hospital and her husband, aged sixty-nine, is in a very serious condition as a result of being struck by an Ann Arbor passenger train yesterday.  Owing to the rain the couple had all the curtains of their rig up and as a result did not see the approaching passenger train when they crossed the tracks several miles north of here.  They were placed on the train and brought here.  The resided near Shepherd.
