Alpena, MI (Lake Huron) Schooner JUPITER Lost, Sep 1901

FEARED SHE IS LOST.

Port Huron, Sept. 18. -- A systematic search has been made by the Kendall Marine Reporting Co., for the schooner Jupiter, reported waterlogged on Saginaw Bay by the crew of the steamer Buell, and nothing can be learned of the vessel. It is feared that she has gone down with all hands, as no passing craft has sighted her, and inquiry all along the shore brings no information.
The F. R. Buell was alongside the Jupiter last Sunday and the crew of the waterlogged schooner were invited to abandon their boat and seek safety on the steamer. This was refused.
The crew of the Jupiter consisted of CAPT. HANSON, of Alpena, his wife and child, three unknown sailors and W. D. RAGAN, the owner, of Port Huron. She was loaded with lumber for Cleveland.
