Brattleboro Companies of 172d Regiment Go to Grafton to Help With Big Forest Fire.
Brattleboro, May 4.--Men from Co. I and the headquarters company of the 172d regiment, Vermont militia, were called this afternoon to Grafton, about 25 miles from Brattleboro to aid in fighting a forest fire which started there about 10 this morning. The fire started on the Reed place, so-called. The fire spread over hundreds of acres of woodland and was still burning late tonight although it was thought to be under control. Help was sent from all the surrounding towns including Saxton's River, Bellows Falls, Chester and Townshend.
