Cumberland, MD Live Wire Accident, Jul 1909
Had a Close Call.
Last night Mrs. Fuller, wife of the city clerk, Howard M. Fuller, was standing on the pavement in front of her home on North Centre street, when a telephone wire dropped from some cause and struck Mrs. Fuller on the hand, burning the thumb and forefinger of her right hand but not seriously. The telephone wire was not heavily charged or the result might have been a serious one. It is thought that the telephone wire was burned in two by a balloon which caught fire, settling on the wire.
