A STEAMER BURNED IN PORTLAND.
PORTLAND, Me., April 29.--The steamer Falmouth, of the International Steam-ship Company's line, caught fire at her wharf this morning. The vessel has been lying above the railroad wharf for some time undergoing extensive repairs, which were nearly completed. About a dozen of the officers and crew slept on board.
The loss is estimated by the company at $175,000.
The steamer was to have resumed her place on the line next week.
