Krotz Springs, LA Auto Crashes Into Bridge, Oct 1959
FIVE TEACHERS DIE IN LA. AUTO CRASH.
Krotz Springs, La. - Five Slidell, La., school teachers were killed when their automobile crashed into the Atchafalaya River bridge here.
They were en route to the Grambling College-Southern University football game at Grambling, La.
Killed outright were:
WARREN J. BOUTTE, JR., 27;
his wife, MRS. MARION R. FORDHAM BOUTTE, 25, both of Bogalusa, La.;
DELORES CRYER, 23, Mt. Herman, La.;
and GENEVA MOODY, 25, Slidell, La.;
FREDERICK RAY CLARK, 27, Madisonville, La., died several hours later in a hospital at Opelousas, La.
State troopers said the right front tire on the car blew out and the vehicle skidded 400 feet before plunging into the concrete bridge wall.
