FIVE MEMBERS OF FAMILY DIE IN TRUCK CRASH.

Greenwood, La., June, 14. - (UPI) - Five members of one family were killed and three other persons critically injured Saturday when a truck smashed broadside into a car.
The driver of the truck, Jessie Fields, 59, Negro, of Mooringsport, La., was the only person to escape injury. Police said he was being held pending results of a blood test to determine if he had been drinking.
State police identified the dead as:
HOWELL D. SLADE, 44;
his wife MRS. COY HARRIS SLADE, 43;
SLADE'S mother, MRS. CARRIE SLADE, 66;
and his daughter and son, LEWANNE, 11, and RANDY, 3.
A sixth member of the family JUDY SLADE, 5, was reported in serious condition in a Shreveport hospital.
Two other persons in the SLADE car were also critically injured. They were identified as CHARLOTTE MILLER, 8, of Waskum, Tex., and GLENN H. HARRIS, 40, of Shreveport.
