FOUR CHILDREN ARE DROWNED

Swept to Their Death by Swift Torrent of Torras Crevasse in Louisiana

Baton Rouge, La., May 14. -- Four little children were swept to their death by the swift current of the Torras crevasse near Erwinville, according to a telegram received today by Capt. Logan of the United States Army relief work here.

Mrs. Benjamin Joseph and her four children were attempting to wade from their home to a near-by farmhouse. The children were carried away by rushing waters before Mrs. Joseph could summons [sic] assistance. An unsuccessful attempt was made to get the Joseph family to leave home last Saturday.

Eight other persons were drowned last week.
