Colfax, LA Boiler Explosion, Dec 1889

EIGHT KILLED; MANY INJURED.

New Orleans, Dec. 6. -- The Picayune's Boyee, La., special says:
The boiler of Calhoun's cotton gin, at Colfax, on the Meridith plantation, exploded, killing six men and two women and injuring many others; all negroes.
A part of the boiler was blown sixty feet.
