TERRIBLY MANGLED

Hugh WATKINS, a splendid young man of this county, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram WATKINS, of Raccoon, experienced a terrible accident on last Thursday* afternoon, which cost him his life.

Hugh, in company, with a companion named McCracken, attempted to board a freight train at the depot in East London. In some manner, Hugh was thrown under the cars, which crushed and mangled his legs terribly, and cutting off one arm and badly bruising his head and face.

The poor boy was tenderly carried to the Pennington Infirmary, where an operation was performed, but his nervous system would not stand the shock and he died Friday afternoon about three o'clock.

His remains were removed to the late home for burial. The bereaved have our deepest sympathy.
