Wichita, KS Auto And Train Collision, Aug 1956


Wichita (AP) - A passenger train-automobile collision killed three members of a Salina family yesterday.
The dead were GEORGE S. HENDERSON, 22, his wife, DONNA, 20, and their small daughter SHERRY.
Sheriff's officers said the car and the Rock Island's Texas Rocket collided shortly before 4 p.m. at a crossing northeast of Wichita.
The officers said it was believed HENDERSON was assigned to Smoky Hill Air Force Base at Salina.
The smashed automobile tumbled 20 into a ditch.
The eastbound train continued its trip after crew members gave authorities information about the accident.
MRS. HENDERSON formerly lived in Springfield, Mo. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Talley of Branson, Mo.
