Wichita, KS Experimental Plane Crash, Jan 1946

TWO KILLED IN CRASH OF PLANE.

Wichita, Kas. (AP) - CHARLES E. PRICE, 48, chief test pilot for the Culver Aircraft Company here, was burned to death and HOWARD R. BYRNS, 33, chief of Culver's experimental department, was burned fatally Sunday in the crash of a new Culver experimental plane near the Culver plant north of the city. The plane fell from a height of less than 100 feet.
PRICE could not be removed from the wreckage, but BYRNS, his gasoline soaked clothing ablaze, was dragged free. He died Sunday night, however, from burns which hospital attendants said covered at least half his body surface.
