Coffeyville, KS Train Wreck, Jan 1909

COFFEYVILLE, Kas., Jan. 17. -- A southbound passenger train on the Missouri Pacific railroad from Kansas City collided head-on with a northbound freight train two miles west of this city this morning.  Twenty-four passengers were hurt, but only two, Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Howell of Nowata, Okla., are in serious condition.  The members of the engine crews jumped and saved themselves.  The engines were demolished. The freight crew, it is said, admit that they overlooked the time of the passenger train.
