Altoona, KS Nitroglycerine Explosion, Feb 1924

NITRO BLOWS UP; TOWNS SHAKEN

CHERRYVALE, Kan., Feb. 12.--A man believed to be Harry Percival of Independence, Kan., was killed instantly today when a motor truck, heavily loaded with nitroglycerine, was blown up three miles north of Altoona. He is said to have been an employe{sic} of the American Supply Company of Independence.

The shock of the explosion was felt for miles around Altoona, reports said, and it was thought to be an earthquake.
