FIRE AT ROCK RAPIDS.

A THRIVING IOWA VILLAGE THE VICTIM OF THE DEVOURING ELEMENT.

Rock Rapids, Iowa, Feb. 18. -- At 1:30 a. m. fire was discovered issuing from the rear end of Anderson's Store in the Union Block. In a few moments a crowd had collected and began the work of saving everything that could be got hold of, but was only a small amount.
The losses are as follows, as near as can be ascertained:
Wyckoff & Fairlamb, drugs, $4,000.
Manning & Billerbeck, millinery, $3,000.
C. G. Anderson, general stock, $12,000.
D. H. Shannon, hardware, $5,000.
W. W. Norris, building, $4,000.
D. H. Shannon, building, $8,000.
Miller & Thompson, building, $5,000.
Tauch S. James, Cigar factory, $700.
Ben Zeigler, bakery, $1,000.
I. O. O. F. Lodge, $1,000.
K. of P. Lodge, $500.
Mason's Lodge, $4,000.
E. Y. Greenleaf, lawyer, $800.
Minor losses, $800; total, $52,800; insurance, $29,700.
