Dyersville, IA Train Wreck, Feb 1899

Passenger train No. 5, northbound, on the Great Western, was wrecked at Dyersville, and Engineer Ben Snyder, of Oelwein, and Fireman Eslinger were both badly scalded and otherwise injured. The wreck was caused by a freight train engine failing to get into the clear on the passing track in time for the passenger train.
