JORDAN GUTTED BY FLAMES.

BUSINESS PORTION OF IOWA VILLAGE WIPED OUT.

Fire Thursday afternoon totally destroyed the entire business district of Jordan, except a blacksmith shop. An elevator, lumber yard, corn cribs, the store containing the postoffice, all belonging to
J. W. Weikel, postmaster, were wiped out.
The flames are thought to have caught from a passing engine. All the mail was burned. The money and money orders in the safe are thought to be destroyed. The loss is $20,000.
The insurance follows:
St. Paul, $4,850.
Spring Garden, $2,500.
Aetna, $1,200.
Phoenix, $1,000.
Home, $2,975.
Des Moines $1,000.
