Waterloo, IA Storm, May 1902

DES MOINES, Ia., May 19. -- A cloudburst at Waterloo early Sunday morning practically ruined every house in the track known as “Dry Run” in Waterloo. Fifty buildings were damaged and several washed away. A number of thrilling rescues were made with boats but no loss of life occurred. The Wapsipinion river overran its banks, doing much damage.

Traffic on the Great Western, Illinois Central and Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern was delayed all day Sunday owing to washouts.

Near Independence an Illinois Central freight train was wrecked with no fatalities.
