A BLOOMINGTON FIRE.

CITY BLOCK IN UNIVERSITY CITY BURNS -- LOSS ESTIMATED AT $350,000.

Bloomington, Ind., March 25. -- After raging for nearly five hours a fire which consumed a city block and threatened for the time the entire business district of the town was brought under control shortly after 10 o'clock last night. The blaze, of unknown origin, caused a loss estimated at $350,000.
The fire, discovered shortly after 5 o'clock in the J. P. SHAFFER grocery, had gained considerable headway at the time of the discovery was spreading rapidly. When the local fire department found itself unable to cope with the situation calls for assistance were sent to Bedford and Martinsville and apparatus from these towns was rushed here.
