Norman Man Dead After Kurtz Farming Mishap
A 66-year-old Norman man ia dead following a mishap with his tractor while plowing a field two miles west of Kurtz, Saturday afternoon.
Trooper Sargent L. Richey, of the Seymour post of the state police, reported Lloyd "Pete" Hill, of Norman R2, was plowing a field near his daughter's house on Norman R1, when he apparently attempted to cross a ditch with the tractor.
According to Jackson County Coroner William L. Bevers, Hill fell from the tractor and was run over by a tractor wheel. An autospy showed Hill died from a crushed chest.
Police think the mishap occurred between 3 and 4 p.m. Saturday. Relatives found the body about 8 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Hill was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a farmer and carpenter.
Born September 6, 1910, in Jackson County, he was a son of the late Vernon and Sarah Mitchner Hill.
He was married January 5, 1933, to Alyce Combs. She survives.
Other survivors iclude a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Emogene) Sherrill of Norman R1 and two grandsons, Dennis Sherrill, of Norman R1 and Phillip Sherrill, of Kurtz.
Funeral Tuesday
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Church of the Nazerene in Kurtz. Burial in the Cornett Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Jones Funeral Home at Heltonville after 4 p.m. today.
