Turkey Run Aviator, Clerk Die in Crash
Rockville, Ind., Aug. 27 (AP).-Albert J. McKay, 35, and Leland Buford, 24, of Indianapolis, were killed instantly about 6 o’clock this evening when their plane crashed near the Turkey Run Airport, 10 miles north of Rockville.
Witnesses said they believed Burford, who had been planning to learn to fly, was at the controls when the plane nose-dived from about 200 feet. The men apparently intended to land, they said, but instead of nosing down, kept the plane in a horizontal position. The weight of the motor apparently caused the plane to nose-dive, witnesses believed.
McKay was the regular pilot of the Turkey Run state park airport and Burford was a clerk in a hotel there.
