Mt. Carmel, IL Automobile And Train Crash, May 1944

SEVEN YOUTHS KILLED.

Mt. Carmel, Ill. - (AP) - Seven Mt. Carmel boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 19 were killed last night in an automobile-train collision in the New York Central train yards here. The accident occurred on a private crossing.
The dead are:
ROBERT SKELTON, 19.
ROLLA HENRY, JR., 18.
his brother DANA LEE HENRY, 15.
ELIZABETH JOANNE ZEIHMAN.
PATRICIA DORIS FISHER.
HELEN ALKA.
and DORA MARIE LINDSTROM, all 15.
Sgt. Ted Blair, state highway patrolman who investigated the crash said that the young people were returning to town from a 4-H meeting. Blair said the car was totally demolished and the seven occupants instantly killed. All were Mt. Carmel high school students with the exception of SKELTON.
