TRAIN HITS CAR; FOUR ARE KILLED.
Carlyle, Ill. (AP) - Four persons, including three grade school sisters, were killed Wednesday when a west-bound freight train struck a car on an unguarded crossing.
Dead were three of the 10 children of MR. and MRS. FRANCIS BERRY of Carlyle. They were IRENE, 15; PHYLLIS, 14; and FLORA KAY, 9.
BERRY'S brother-in-law, EUGENE HIGGINS, 33, father of four children, died in a hospital at nearby Breese an hour after the accident.
The driver of the car, LESTER BERRY, 18, and a young brother, ALLEN, 7, were seriously injured.
The Berry car was bound for the Carlyle grade school. The auto was thrown about 100 feet by the impact.
There was no reported damage to the train.
