WELDER KILLED IN TANK BLAST.
Grayville, Illinois, July 12 (AP) - One man was killed as an oil tank truck explosion shook this Southern Illinois community today.
E. C. McKENZIE, 35, of Grayville was killed when a 100 barrel oil-transport blew up. He was welding it.
Cause of the blast was not fixed. M. B. Butler, the truck owner and operator of a truck service bearing his name at Albion, Ill., and Troy, Ind., said the tank had been steamed out and prepared for welding.
McKENZIE'S body was mangled and strewn over a wide area outside the welding shop on Illinois Route 1. Windows of a service station across the highway were blown out. Electric cables of the Central Illinois public service Co. were torn down. None of the persons in nearby buildings was injured.
McKENZIE is survived by four children and an estranged wife.
