Chicago, IL Struck by Train, Sept 1887

CORONER'S INQUESTS.

On the body of John Sack, today at 1 o'clock. Sack was struck by an engine of the Pittsburg and Ft. Wayne Road, sustaining injuries from which he died yesterday morning.

....at No. 465 Eastern avenue on the body of Edward Vail, who was struck by a Chicago and Northwestern engine at North avenue.

....at No. 976 West Lake street on the body of John Gilmore, who was killed coupling cars at the yards west of Western avenue.

The deadly railroad frog claimed another victim in Chicago Sunday. John Gilmore, a switchman, got his foot caught and was run over and shockingly mangled.

A 13-year-old boy named Thomas Gorman, while attempting to board a train yesterday at the crossing of the Panhandle track over West Seventeenth street, while it was in motion, fell beneath the wheels and had both legs cut off. He lives at No. 1120 West Sixteenth street, but was taken to the County Hospital, where the physician in charge said he would not recover.
