FIRE ON A LAKE STEAMER.
BRINGS DEATH TO TWO MEN -- THREE OTHERS INJURED -- BOAT IS DAMAGED $6,000 AND HAD NO CARGO ABROAD.
Chicago, Nov. 14. -- During a fire on the steamer Gordon Campbell two men lost their lives and three others were injured, none of them fatally.
The dead men are:
JAMES CLEARY, a fireman.
Sailor whose name is not known.
CLEARY fell through a hatchway from the upper deck to the bottom of the hold sustaining injuries that caused his death in the hospital. The sailor fell into the river while endeavoring to fight the fire and sank before aid could be given to him.
The boat was lying at the dock without cargo at the time of the fire and damaged to the extent of $6,000.
