OLDEST ILLINOIS ELK INJURED

Colonel William Baker of Bolivia and Frank Reed Badly Hurt

Colonel William Baker of Bolivia, the oldest Elk in the State of Illinois, was perhaps fatally injured, and Frank Reed, editor of the Taylorville Breeze, seriously injured, in a runaway accident at Taylorville. Colonel Baker and Mr. Reed were crossing a railroad track, and the horse became frightened by the noise of the wheels against the rails. The men were unable to hold the frightened animal and both were thrown out. Suffering with a broken left leg, Editor Reed dragged himself to where Baker was lying in an unconscious condition. The two men were found by A. B. Brittin shortly after the accident and were taken to St. Vincent's Hospital. It is now thought that Colonel Baker will survive his injuries.
