Nine Rescued In Peoria Fire
86 Years Old Widow Is Carried to Safety By Firemen in Blaze

Peoria, Dec. 29.-An 86 years old invalid widow was rescued by firemen and eight other persons including three children experienced narrow escapes from death Saturday when fire of undetermined origin gutted the Ray Dargel confectionery and the H. T. Poppen grocery here. The loss was estimated at $30,000.
Three families occupying rooms above the Dargel store were asleep when the fire broke out. Mrs. Ava Krebs, aged widow, was carried to safety by firemen. Her daughter Miss Anne Krebs, Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Hill, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ames Lawler and their three children were led to the street through dens smoke.
