Macon, GA Train Accident, Sept 1883
Had His Arm Crushed.
While coupling the fast train, which arrived on Sunday from Atlanta, with the Savannah sleepers in the union depot, Mr. John Pharr, a train hand, had his arm badly crushed. He is now laid up in Savannah.
This is one of the most dangerous positions on a railroad. Every night when this train is coupled on the sleepers we see this dangerous practice, and shudder every time we see the young men at it. We have been looking for an accident of this kind.
