SAVANNAH'S COTTON FIRE.

Two Thousand Bales of Cotton Badly Damaged

SAVANNAH, Oct. 28.---Between 2,000 and 2,500 bales of cotton were damaged by fire in the British steamer Bendo last night. A survey was held today and the board recommended the discharge of a portion of the cargo in the compartment where the fire broke out. Until this has been done the agent of the vessel says it is impossible to make an estimate of the damage to the vessel or the cargo. The vessel's damage will be small. The cotton is insured in American and English companies.
