Lake Placid, FL Head On Collision, Mar 1984

HEAD-ON CRASH KILLS 6 NEAR LAKE PLACID.

Lake Placid - Six people, the youngest 62, have been killed in a head-on collision on State Road 70 in rural Highlands County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the accident happened about noon Sunday 15 miles south of Lake Placid.
Investigating Trooper R. F. Swindling said a 1974 Ford occupied by two women was eastbound, attempting to pass when it collided with a 1983 Chrysler headed westbound and occupied by two couples. Both cars were demolished.
The name of the driver of the Forde was withheld pending notification of her family. Her passenger was identified as CELIA MONICA STERN, 73, of Southfield, Mich.
FRECERICK HENRY O'MEARA, 65, of Delray Beach, was driving the Chrysler, officers said. His passengers were identified as his wife, CATHERINE, 66, and WILLIAM A. TAYLOR, 62, of Braintree, Mass., and his wife, MARION, 62.
