ACCIDENT KILLS FRENCH RACER.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (AP) -- A French race car driver who was heir to the Chandon Champagne fortune and the beau of model Christie Brinkley drowned after his car crashed and fell into a lake during a test run at Moroso Speedway, police say.
OLIVIER CHANDON DE BRAILLES died Wednesday.
CHANDON DE BRAILLES, 27, was killed when he lost control of the 1983 Ralt Formula-Atlantic crashed through retaining walls and careened through the air into a small lake, Lt. Emilio Diamantis of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department said Thursday.
Authorities said the car was traveling at better than 100 mph when the accident occurred.
