Bridgeport, Ct., Jan. 8—(AP)—Split-second thinking by 14 year old Helen Olow of Bridgeport today saved the life of one of the two youngsters who fell through thin ice into Pasadena pond here.
Hearing cries for help, Helen snatched up one of her skis and raced to the scene. She managed to rescue Robert Gibbons, 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gibbons, a Bridgeport fireman.
Not so fortunate was William Lugovich, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Lugovich, who drowned while his little companion was clinging to the ski. Police recovered his body a few hours later in six feet of water.
