San Diego, Cal., July 22. -- The appalling list of victims of yesterday's explosion aboard the Bennington grew throughout the night, almost every hour adding to the long rows of dead in the over-crowded morgues. Fifty-two known dead is the latest summary compiled at 9 o'clock this morning. This included forty-five bodies at the various morgues and seven bodies which are still floating about in the flooded boiler rooms, and which cannot yet be reached. About fifty injured are scattered among the various private and public hospitals and there are missing twenty or twenty-five.

San Francisco, July 22 -- The latest official list of casualties in the Bennington disaster shows forty-one are dead, nine unidentified, fifty-five wounded, sixteen or whom are in a serious condition, twenty-one to twenty-five still missing.
The roll call on board the Bennington some hours after the explosion showed sixty-one men present, leaving one hundred and thirty-six unaccounted for. These included the dead, injured and missing.
A San Diego fire engine is now alongside the Bennington, and is aiding in pumping the water out of the gunboats's engine room. There is at least fifteen feet of water in her hold.
