Barstow, CA Head On Crash Kills Seven, Nov 1962

HEAD-ON CRASH KILLS 7 PERSONS.

Barstow, Calif. (UPI) - Seven persons died Saturday in a head-on collision on U.S. - 66 near this Southern California desert community.
Lone survivor of the crash was MRS. VALERIE VARNER, 21.
Her mother, MRS. RITA BERLIN, 50; and a sister, PAMELA, 15, of Playa del Rey, Calif., were killed instantly.
Two sailors, possibly hitch-hikers, in the car with the women also were killed. They were identified as ROBERT HERMAN, 22, of Conover, N.C., and RONALD J. HAMM, 20, Columbus, Ohio.
The other victims were identified as GEORGE DECKER, 30, and ODELL DAVIS, 48, both of Barstow, and JACK WRISTON, 25, of Yermo. They were in a pickup truck traveling east.
