Buckeye, CA Fire, Jan 1899
The store building and dwelling in which was located the postoffice at the Buckeye has been consumed by fire. The fire started in the roof of the dwelling and spread so rapidly that only the postoffice books and store accounts of James P Beard, the postmaster, storekeeper and owner of the property, were saved. Loss, $2000, no insurance.
