LARGE FIRE IN ALAMEDA.
ALAMEDA, Sept. 14.---A fire which broke out about 2 o'clock this afternoon destroyed one hundred tons of hay at the barn of Lubben Bros., on Webster street, near Railroad avenue. The fire department was called out from box 19, but before they arrived the fire had gained such headway it was impossible to save the place. The fire started in the rear of the livery stables where fires have occurred on other occasions. The loss is estimated at $1800, covered by insurance. The origin of the fire is unknown.
