San Diego, CA (near) Bomber Crashes, Mar 1941

2 KILLED AS NAVY BOMBER CRASHES NEAR SAN DIEGO.

San Diego, Cal., March 12 -- (UP) -- A navy torpedo bomber crashed in the mountains northeast of San Diego, killing two of the three occupants, navy headquarters reported today.
The dead were identified as:
RALPH GOFF, machinist's mate of Raccoon, Ky.
DILLARD P. DOGA, machinist's mate of Basile, La.
WALTER GLENN BARNES, pilot, leaped successfully from the plane as it crashed yesterday on French Peak near Warner's Hot Springs. It was believed GOFF and DOGA were unable to work their way out of the spinning craft in time to join BARNES in parachute leaps.
A navy crash crew, traveling by truck and on foot over rough country, recovered the bodies and brought them to the Bonham Funeral Parlors here.
