Granum, AB Training Planes Crash, June 1942

NAME FLIERS KILLED IN CRASH NEAR GRANUM.

Macleod, June 16. -- Officials of No. 7 S.F.T.S. here today released the names of two airmen killed yesterday when two R.C.A.F. training planes crashed on a farm three and a half miles north and two miles east of Granum.
The airmen are:
ALEXANDER JOHN McLAREN of Clearwater, Man.
OMAR ELDRED OLSON of Delisle, Sask.
The father of McLAREN, A. R. McLaren, will arrive by train tonight and funeral arrangements of the young airman have not been completed. The next of kin of OLSON is his mother, Mrs. Inga Olson. The remains will be forwarded this afternoon to Delisle for burial after a service here.
The court of inquiry into the crash opened today.
The planes crashed a quarter of a mile apart on the farm of C. M. Anderson. The motor of one was said to have buried itself 10 feet in the ground. Both planes were badly wrecked.
