BUS CRASH HURTS 27.

Birmingham, Alabama - 26 mentally handicapped children were hurt when their bus lost its brakes and hit a tree.
WILSON DuPont, the driver of the bus, was admitted to Cooper Green Hospital in satisfactory condition.
Five children were admitted to a hospital, most with fractures. But a spokesman said none sustained
"life-threatening" injuries.
The bus, taking mentally handicapped children to special education classes lost its brakes as it crested a hill.
The bus raced down a hill, jumped a sidewalk curb and slammed head on into a tree. The force of the impact ripped three rows of seats off the floor and bent the front of the bus around the tree.
